Destiny Ridge

Horse Heaven Hills AVA, WA

Destiny Ridge Vineyard is truly stunning and holds a very special place in our hearts. This is where our journey began in 2007, with just one ton of fruit from Block 15. This picturesque vineyard faces southward looking down from high above the Columbia River in the heart of Horse Heaven Hills. Catching light from above and reflecting upwards from the Columbia River below, Destiny Ridge experiences one of the longest growing periods of any vineyard in the world! Horse Heaven Hills is considered a hot AVA (American Viticulture Area), but with Destiny Ridge’s proximity to the constant cooling river breeze, the scorching summer temperatures are moderated, allowing for the development of rich flavors in harmony with vibrant acidity. W.T. Vintners believes Syrah is the grape that best articulates the potential of Destiny Ridge Vineyard, and showcases Washington’s unique terroir.

Beginning with our one ton of Syrah in 2007, Destiny Ridge now farms two acres of Block 1 “Phelps clone” Syrah for W.T. Vintners.  Our rows run vertically from the relative bottom to the very top of the vineyard giving us a varied soil profile with about 24” of loess (windblown volcanic loam) over fractured basalt at the bottom and just a scant few inches of soil at the top. The transition of elevation adds to the nuance as vines are exposed to different amounts of water, minerals, wind, and sun.
