W.T. Vintners, short for the White and Thorsen Family Vintners, is the culmination of three families paths coming together with one shared passion.
Meet the W.T. Family
Jeff Lindsay-Thorsen, Winemaker
Jeff’s passion for wine and fine cuisine has lead him around the world in pursuit of strengthening his knowledge and feeding his passion. To gain a deeper understanding of the vast world of wine he has worked the harvest at esteemed estates in Burgundy, New Zealand and here at home in Washington and Oregon. In addition to exploring the great wine regions of the world Jeff has been hard at work at here in the Pacific Northwest.
He holds an Advanced Sommelier Certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers and a Sommelier Diploma from the International Sommelier Guild. In 2008, he won the Pacific Northwest Super-Regional Best Young Sommelier Competition and competed as a finalist in the national competition hosted by La Chaine des Rotisseurs International Food & Wine Society.
Jeff has had the honor of working alongside several of the Pacific Northwest’s best chefs, restauranteurs, sommeliers, and winemakers while honing his craft. As Wine & Spirits Director of the multi-award-winning wine program at Seattle’s Cascadia Restaurant, Jeff built an internationally renowned wine program. In 2009, he was given the task of developing a dynamic wine program for the much anticipated second location, of the celebrated Wild Ginger restaurant in Bellevue, WA. Jeff went on to develop a much acclaimed Northern Italian focused wine program and an Outstanding Restaurant nomination from the James Beard Foundation at Holly Smith’s Cafe Juanita in Kirkland, WA. Most recently Jeff is Wine Director at celebrity Chef Michael Mina and rock-star sommelier Rajat Parr’s RN74 in Seattle, WA.
Not one to just talk the talk, in 2007, Jeff took his passion to the next level founding W.T. Vintners with father and son George and George White. Jeff has also begun the rigorous challenge of completing the Master Sommelier exam.
When he isn’t preparing for the next stage of the exam, racking the next vintage, or chasing one of his twins Jeff can be found working out his pouring arm at internationally acclaimed RN74 restaurant and wine bar in Seattle, WA.
Cortney came to wine in a roundabout fashion. Growing up in Minneapolis, Minnesota did not afford her many opportunities to taste wine outside of an illicit bottle of Strawberry Hill at a late night party. However, while in college in Seattle she met Jeff while the two schlepped martinis and barbeque together at a local restaurant. At this point in her life wine was just a blip on the radar, if at all, and her energies were focused on nursing program at Seattle University. As Jeff slipped further down the enological rabbit hole Cortney never missed a beat. Over a decade later Cortney has found herself with a highly tuned palate, having worked harvest on three continents, visited nearly every major grape growing region, as well as dined and reveled with legendary winemakers and vignerons across the globe. However, most important she and Jeff are the parents of two beautiful twins; Dashiel and Vivian. Cortney’s role at W.T.V. varies from day to day. When not caring for her two children or her patients at Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center she rises to an array of winery tasks. Come harvest time, her greatest talents lie in her role as chief tank scrubber, voice of reason, and co-pilot on long vineyard check ups and pick days. Cortney never bats an eye at the challenge and is a voice of support and a crucial champion of W.T.V. as we build a lasting legacy and work to elevate Washington wine on the world stage.
George brings his business talents, technical know-how, and shared passion for vino to W.T. Vintners. His introduction to the wine industry started like many other endeavors he has undertaken in his life, amongst friends discussing ideas over a beverage. One night over a particularly tasty scotch, he and Jeff were discussing wine and what it took to turn grapes into something delicious…and the first seed of W.T. was born. When not imbibing in WT’s latest vintage, George spends his days growing his other passion, a company he co-founded called Pavia Systems, which provides technology solutions to government agencies and contractors in the transportation industry.
